Well, high pressure has been keeping spirits high in the Cascades. The next objective on the tick list is Mount Rainier.
Rainier boasts 36 square miles of permanent snow and glacial ice and had 26 named glaciers. It’s big, it’s bad and it’s the classic icon of the Cascade range. Starting from the south side’s Paradise trail head, the climb will take 9,000 vertical feet and cover around 16 miles round trip, depending on route finding.
Our plan is to ski this peak sometime in the next couple days then head to the North Cascades for three more peaks. There is still a lot of vert to cover and a lot of mileage to slog, but we’re amped for the challenge.
Meanwhile, in the Davenport camp, Chris and his crew picked off another peak in Oregon. Chris posted on Tweeted that his team had conquered Mt McLoughlin and skied the Northeast Face. Their next objective is Mount Theilson. Sounds like they’re having a blast with their tour as well!
